One circular needle - two socks

Hello all,
I wanted to share a fun project I'm working on. Did I say fun...uh, I better have my head examined.

Actually I decided to take the plunge and learn to knit in the round so started on a long turbo circular needle (instead of the double pointed). How wonderful to do my first set of socks at one time. I got the book showing how to do it but I think she goes overboard on the cast on stitches.

Now I am struggling through the gusset. I'm a bit on my own because even the master knitter at our knitting group doesn't know about this process, lol. I've found I've had to use some double pointed to put things back in order but I shall finish!

Anyone else out there doing this?
p.s. also posted this on knit and purl but not sure how active that one still is

    Great minds think...

I learned how to do socks on 2 circulars this past weekend, I have 1 done, and 1 to go... 2 at the same time will be in the not toooo distant future...

On to you question... I did a google search, and found this...

      You are a gem!
I didn't even think to do a further google search for help. Wow and they even talk about using that extra double pointed. Hey, maybe I'm not messing up so badly, lol. Now I'm going to read more of that pdf. I just had to stop first and thank you (after reading the first few paragraphs).

I'd thought about doing the sock on two circulars but knew I'd never get myself to start the second one, although I did try a hat that way and liked it better then fighting with the individual double pointed needles.

If you get the book "2 at a Time Socks" book just be aware that there are some mistakes - corrections online - but I didn't find anyone mentioning that there were too many cast-ons except the knitters I knew. Also, you probably already know but I didn't, the Addi turbo needles - although wonderful for this - have different sizing in the lower sizes. The 2 is actually more like a 2 1/2 or some just use it as a 3.

        I'm an obsessive knitter... LOL

        Thank you... thank you google!!!

I picked up the Socks on Circs by Cat Bordhi this past weekend... www.catbordhi.com/ She is a gem plus! Check out her videos on youtube!

The other thing to keep in mind when your are knitting, is that there are various sizes of needles, what we in the u.s. call a 2 is actually 2.75, our 3 is actually a 3.25... www.fibergypsy.com/common/needles.shtml it will make a difference when you are knitting from say a Dale of Norway pattern, as my step daughter found out the hard way!

Obsessive knitter...ya heard about you guys. I think I caught that bug and from what I understand there is no cure ...well except to buy more yarn!

Thanks for the info. I read all the way through that pattern and my brain fell out. I continued to knit on the socks and got so turned around on the gusset (didn't understand the concept of knitting without decreasing every other row - I'm used to purling for that when knitting flat). I was so turned upside down and backwards even with using the extra needles (yikes which one was sock B or A?).

So, I ripped it back to before the heel turn and will now pay attention to which one is sock A and B. Even got some colored stitch markers and will write down what the colors mean (not try to remember in my head, lol).

Now to figure out what order to put them back on the needle. I think that is where you info. will come in handy, again. Oh well, learning keeps the mind flexible...if one doesn't go insane first!

Great, I'll check mm from now on.

Just figured out why I'm so confused. I found the second set of corrections to the Knit 2-At-Once Socks. The basic instructions were turned around throughout the whole book and the teaching section had some fundamental errors. So anyone trying this wonderful technique really wants to make sure they get the errata from the publisher's site.
