I just went to a knitting meetup on Wed. night. We had fun, though Diedrich's was a bit dark for quality knitting. If you haven't heard about www.meetup.com, it's worth joining.
Also, the new knitting store near me has classes on Sat. If you are near Anaheim CA the store is at 50 S. Anaheim Blvd. near Lincoln (behind the Asian restaurant). Or see their website at www.theknittygritty.com.

Re: Welcome everyone!
Tue, June 8, 2004 - 4:23 PMHi I'm new to this group, I haven't gone to the meetup in my area (Ventura County) because no one else had signed up yet. I should check again though. I'm going to be teaching sock knitting at a new yarn shop in Ventura Anacapa fine yarns soon. I'm excited and a little nervous about it.

Re: Welcome everyone!
Tue, June 8, 2004 - 8:43 PMSocks are addicting! And it's fun to scare passersby when they see all those needles sticking out.
I just made a lion from the directions in the Zen of Knitting. I'm making a lamb to go with it.
Sock knitting is definitely for people that get tired of working with one color. You can use lots of bits of different colors.
My friend just knitted a pair of solid black socks on size o needles. She said the first one took 37 hours.
Holy Guacamole! She has more patience than I do.
Good luck with the classes. -

Wed, June 9, 2004 - 11:56 AMYes socks are addicting, much smaller than sweaters, which is good. Is Zen of Knitting a book? or a tribe? -
